HiQ Teams Championship leaders Airwaves BMW approached today's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship qualifying session at Rockingham with confidence.

With the sun pouring its heart out Jackson and Kane were in fine form, which is hardly surprising. Both Airwaves BMW drivers have won races here at Rockingham before, and it's a habit neither is keen to shake.

The session kicked off with a familiar fanfare of dramatics as the usual suspects battled for the top spots.

Jackson, currently third in the Driver's championship and Kane, currently fifth, both topped the list at various points during the session, but, with 27g and 9kg success ballast respectively, and a series of yellow flags, the pair never got the window of opportunity they craved. Regardless, the Airwaves cars were the quickest BMWs on the grid.

At the end of the session Kane finished in ninth place with a time of 1.24.417; Jackson was literally a fraction off this pace with a time of 1.24.544, enough to leave the Warwickshire man in eleventh place come the first race tomorrow.

With O'Neill lodged in between the two Airwaves BMWs, the pair will be hoping for a quick start tomorrow. Chilton and his LPG powered Aon Focus are in pole (1.23.363), Neal and his Honda in second (1.23.660) and MacDowell in the Chevrolet in third (1.23.798) - tomorrow represents a huge step.

Solid points in the three races will give Airwaves BMW every chance of continuing their HiQ Teams Championship domination; we'll just have to hold our breath and see.

Yet again the Motorbase Performance Porsche Carrera Cup GB team had a blinder. Michael Caine finished in second in the Pro category after a thrilling tussle with Tim Harvey. Ollie Jackson came home first in Pro-Am 1 while Steven Parish took second place in Pro-Am 2.

Back to the BTCC; you can catch the first two races from Rockingham live on ITV4 between 11.30am-3.15pm on Sunday with highlights screened between 9.00- 10.30pm. Full race coverage, including the day's final race, will be available on www.itv.com via a live-stream.

Kane and Jackson prove to be the fastest BMWs at Rockingham...

Airwaves BMW Team driver Steven Kane said: "It's nice to be the quickest BMW out there but ultimately I'm not satisfied. We're still getting used to the new tyre and we're not getting the most out of it. In the first sectors the turbo'd cars are very quick. They won't be able to run such an aggressive set-up during the races tomorrow and that will play into our hands. I want to be on that podium in every race"

Airwaves BMW Team driver Mat Jackson said: "We cooked the diff in the free practice session and the replacement wasn't quite set-up properly. Tonight the team will be able to sort that out so we'll be a lot quicker tomorrow. The chassis feels great and I think we'll be right up there. I'll try my hardest and I'm aiming for podiums in every race."

Airwaves BMW Team Principal David Bartrum said: "It wasn't a bad session considering we were the quickest of all the BMWs, but, there's more to come. Ninth and eleventh isn't perfect, but that's racing. Tomorrow's another day and I'm confident we'll do better and continue are great start."
