BTCC announces HarrierZeuros & Hilton as sponsors
HarrierZeuros is the new sponsor of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship's 'Independents Trophy' and for 2004 has put up a prize fund of £75,000.
The Independent winner in each of the BTCC's 30 rounds will receive £2,500 from HarrierZeuros, a leader in Internet security and data protection.
"The BTCC is a new direction for us, but the phenomenal exposure it provides sponsors made it a very easy choice," said Sarah Carter, HarrierZeuros's Sales and Marketing Director.
"We expect the fight for the BTCC's Independents Trophy title in 2004 to be extraordinarily close and we hope our winner-takes-all prize adds even greater excitement to the battle on raceday. Who knows? We may even see someone going home with three straight wins and £7,500 in their back pocket each weekend!"
BTCC Series Director Alan Gow said: "Everyone in the BTCC is delighted to welcome HarrierZeuros as one of the championship's primary associate sponsors. Its considerable prize fund is an excellent reward for our privateer competitors and helps to make their season even more cost-effective.
"We have sought to provide the Independents with a race cash prize fund, which they have not had for five years, and I'm extremely proud that in conjunction with HarrierZeuros we have been able to do so."
Hilton Sponsors Driver of the Day: Fans To Decide Winner
Luxury hotel group Hilton will sponsor the BTCC's Driver of the Day award in 2004, with the championship's fans deciding each winner via an interactive vote.
Television viewers will vote via digital channel Motors TV, which shows all BTCC race meetings live. Race day spectators will vote using the BTCC's official radio station, TOCA Radio, which broadcasts from each circuit and on the championship's official website www.tocatour.co.uk
Five twin rooms at a Hilton hotel in the UK and Ireland will be awarded to each Driver of the Day at the following race meeting.
"Our prize gives drivers an added incentive to perform heroics on raceday and we cannot think of anyone better to judge the day's biggest hero than the BTCC's huge number of fans. Every driver who wins this award will truly know that they are the crowd's favourite," commented Mark Taylor, Hilton's Regional Marketing Director.
Alan Gow added: "Hilton's continued alliance with the BTCC as an associate sponsor is very welcome. It is lending its name to an award that is very important as each winner will be decided by people very dear to the BTCC's heart - the fans."
Details of how to vote will be announced in the run-up to the opening three races of the season at Thruxton, Hampshire on Sunday 11th April.
