Victory double for Muller

Vauxhall's Yvan Muller dramatically increased his Green Flag British Touring Car Championship lead by taking victory in this afternoon's (Monday) sixth round of the series at Thruxton to add to his win earlier in the day.

Muller again overcame the fact his Astra Coupe was carrying substantial success ballast to head home Alan Morrison's Honda Civic Type-R and his Vauxhall team-mate Paul O'Neill.

Honda's Matt Neal led the race's early stages but a puncture sent him off the track at high-speed and he finished back in 11th. Muller is now 20 points clear of Vauxhall team-mate James Thompson in the title race, the reigning champion finishing today's two races fourth and fifth.

Synchro Honda Racing's James Kaye, in his Honda Civic Type-R, took his second Hilton Independents Trophy victory of the year. Team Varta also celebrated a Production class double with their Peugeot 307 driver Tom Boardman.
