After a difficult qualifying session yesterday, both drivers got their PETRONAS-backed cars into the points in the first of the two races at Croft. Round 11, interrupted by two safety car periods, saw a close finish with the 12th place car within 21 seconds of the winner at the flag. In Round 12, Leslie had to make an unscheduled additional pitstop to have damaged bodywork taped up, while Bennett was slowed by an overheating engine yet still finished 15th.
David Leslie: "The car was better today and we picked up points in the first race. I thought we were on for a good finish in Round 12 after a great start which got me challenging for 7th place but there was some barging early in the race which dropped me down the order."
Phil Bennett: "I was delighted to finish in the points in the first race, but we still haven't completely sorted the hopping in the rear suspension. I had to nurse the car home in the second race with cooling problems."
Mike Carroll (race director): "The drivers are both very positive about the potential in the car with the new suspension and a strong and reliable motor. Croft is an unusual challenge being so bumpy - we got a lot of good data from the second race which will help us in preparation for our next race weekend."
David Wong ( Team Principal): "So long as we keep racking up points while we learn and improve, we'll be in a strong position come the end of the season. Our next race is at our adopted 'home' track, Snetterton. We plan to put on a good showing for our supporters."
