Rising British Touring Car star Tom Ingram will make his debut in the British Rallycross championship during Easter Monday’s Lydden Hill round.
The 21-year-old, who drives a Toyota Avensis for the Speedworks outfit in the BTCC, will get behind the wheel of a Rage Motorsport buggy in the RX150 division just a day after doing battle in the opening round of his sophomore BTCC campaign at Brands Hatch.
Among Ingram’s rivals in the RX150 class heats will be Murray Coulthard, the nephew of ex-Formula 1 star David, and Formula Ford Festival winner Chrissy Palmer.
“I’ve always said that I’ve wanted to have a go at rallycross,” said Ingram, who placed 15th in last year’s BTCC standings with a best result of fifth place.
“Rallycross is such a different discipline to the BTCC in terms of driving style, and the RX150s look to be a serious amount of fun. It’s going to be like driving a very fast go-kart with gears on a loose surface!”
