`Peugeot Ready to Start The Fight'
The Peugeot 406 Coupé Race Team will this weekend be competing in the first round of the 2001 British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch, Kent. Drivers Dan Eaves, Matt Neal and Steve Soper will undertake qualifying on Sunday April 15th with race day being on Monday 16th.
Matt Neal recently showed amazing potential in his 406 Coupé, finishing 4th in testing on only the second outing for the car at Brands Hatch, despite the fact he was only able to use 5 of the 6 gears, due to unavailability of a part.
In testing at Oulton Park last week, Peugeot continued with the development programme and started to build up a database of suspension settings and how the changes affected the Coupé's characteristics.
Confident in making up lost time, Mick Linford, Peugeot Motorsport Director commented: "I am not too concerned about the deficit in times between us and Vauxhall in testing. It is probable that they will have the advantage in early races, but we are continually learning more about the car. Once we have one or two meetings behind us, I am confident that we will be challenging for the lead."
