David Leslie enjoyed a trouble-free qualifying session for Team PETRONAS Syntium Proton's first visit to the exciting Oulton Park Island circuit. He secured 10th slot on the grid for the Sprint race and an excellent 8th place for the Feature race.

Phil Bennett, troubled by an engine problem and minor handling issues, still managed 13th place for the Feature race grid.

David Leslie said: "I'm happy with my Proton Impian and my grid places. From our experience at Brands Hatch we could be in a good position to get in amongst the Vauxhalls and the MG's tomorrow."

Phil Bennett said: "I'm disappointed not to have had more time to set up my car for this circuit despite the Petronas & Team PSP lads sorting the engine problem in double quick time. I know there's more to come from the car."

With most of the top ten drivers recording faster qualifying times for the Feature race, Leslie said: "There was more rubber down, the weather was a bit warmer and I leaned on the car more too - it all worked fine!"

Leslie posted a 1.29.107 to qualify 10th for Round 3, with Bennett in 16th place. For Round 4, the Feature Race, Leslie cut 0.6 seconds off his time to secure 8th place at 1.28.562 with Bennett closer in 13th spot.

Peter Gillitzer, Race Director, Team PSP said: "We're making progress up the grid in our second BTCC weekend. I reckon we're in good shape for tomorrow's races."
