Season-Best Qualifying Performance But Podiums Still Elude Team Psp
Despite excellent qualifying pace just six tenths of a second off pole, Team PSP's drivers came away empty-handed after another incident-packed trio of races denied them their just rewards. Mondello Park lived up to its reputation as a car-breaker with many drivers failing to finish races; however, both Team PSP drivers finished two out of the three races with heartening race performances, adding to the team's bank of knowledge about their racers. The team now has a six-week break before the next round of the 2004 BTCC.
Fariqe Hairuman: "I'm pleased to have recorded my best finish of the season on my first ever race at Mondello. It's been a tough day but I know I've improved throughout the weekend."
Shaun Watson-Smith: "We had a great qualifying performance getting seventh just six tenths off pole. My race pace after the first start was frankly disappointing and in round 14 I was going well but sidelined by a racing incident. In the last race someone knocked my steering awry and that was that. We'll bounce back for the next race weekend!"
Mike Carroll, (Chief Engineer): "We notched up our best qualifying of the year but struggled for race pace and ran out of front grip in the first round. Then we got involved in racing incidents which put paid to the rest of the weekend."
David Wong, (Team Principal): "Once again we showed the potential of the team but were unable to capitalise on that. I'm very disappointed but that's racing."
