Joachim Winkelhock (Smokin' Joe), winner of the BTCC 1993 and GTCC2 1995, will return to England to drive for the 1996 BTCC with a works BMW.

He is the 2nd German beside Frank Biela (Audi), who wants to catch the British title. Since the final GTCC-race in September '95 at Nurburgring, when Winkelhock kicked Biela's Audi off the track and won the championship, they are everything else other than good friends.
