Team PSP ready for first-season finale at Donington.
After a body-bruising battle at Brands on the fast and furious Indy circuit, Team PSP's drivers David Leslie and Phil Bennett are gearing up for the final two rounds of the team's inaugural BTCC season at Donington on the full 2.5 mile Grand Prix circuit next weekend.
Phil Bennett said:"I came away with some points from Brands and also showed that my Proton Impian is right on the pace in race trim-- it was a bruising weekend but encouraging for me and the team."
David Leslie said:"It was a real scrum in the midfield last time out yet we've shown once again we can mix with the front-runners. I hope that Donington will see great racing and less of the demolition derby tactics!"
With four podiums already secured, comfortably exceeding the team's pre-season ambitions, Leslie and Bennett are determined to finish the season on a high and add to the team's points tally.
David Leslie said:"The Donington GP circuit is another of the greats for drivers and spectators alike. It's got a fabulous mix of gradients and corners, especially the Craner Curves followed by the Old Hairpin. I'm planning to stay out of trouble, string the laps together and be kind to my brakes. I aim to let the others overcook it and fly off the track!"
Phil Bennett said:"I get goose-bumps thinking about Donington-- I remember watching Senna show why he is still the all-time great when he won the 1993 Grand Prix in pouring rain. It's awesome just to be on the same track. I hope that we'll be able to do the circuit and ourselves justice."
David Wong, Team Principal, Team Petronas Syntium Proton commented:"This has been a long hard season and a steep learning curve for our all-new team. Another podium or two would round the season off very nicely."
Green Flag BTCC qualifying takes place on Saturday 21st September, with the Sprint Race scheduled for 12.30 on Sunday 22nd September and the Feature Race due to roll at 17.35.
