Round: 11-12 of 26 Venue: Donington Park Date: June 19/20

BRENTWOOD, June 11, 1999: Ford Team Mondeo returns to Donington Park on June 19/20 keen to add to their tally of two podium finishes from the last two race weekends.

Recent form in the Auto Trader British Touring Car Championship has not led the team to rest on its laurels, however, but has spurred it on to push even harder to achieve its first race victory of the 1999 campaign.

The team's determination to win took them to the Idiada proving ground near Barcelona last week. Ford Team Mondeo driver Anthony Reid was given the task of putting the car through its paces in Spain to find the optimum balance and power the team needs to find to close the gap on the current front-runners. The official TOCA test at Croft earlier this week provided an opportunity to test the progress made at Idiada.

The Ford Mondeo has shown excellent pace in the last four rounds. "Finishing third and fourth in the sprint race at Oulton Park, and a second place at Brands Hatch proves Ford is getting closer to returning the Mondeo to the winner's circle", added Reid.

Buoyed by his podium finish at Oulton Park two weeks ago, Reid's teammate Alain Menu said, "The work the team has done with the Mondeo over the past few weeks has been very encouraging and we had a good day's testing at Croft this week, so I'm hopeful I can continue my recent good form."

Ford Team Mondeo Manager, Dave Benbow, said. "We need to build on our recent positive results. Together with Ford and Cosworth Racing, we have made many improvements to the engine and chassis since our last visit to Donington Park.

"Since then, both drivers have noticed a real improvement in the handling of the car which has, in turn, boosted their own confidence in driving on the limit."

Official qualifying takes place at Donington Park on Saturday June 19, with rounds 11 and 12 of the Auto Trader British Touring Car Championship on Sunday June 20.
