Team PSP drivers secure grid positions for first race
Both Team PSP drivers secured 'satisfactory' grid positions for the first races of the team's inaugural BTCC campaign.
David Leslie said: "I'm happy with the car and our grid places. I had a slight problem with the front brakes locking, but otherwise it was a good session. The set-up looks good for the race distances tomorrow."
Phil Bennett said: "I was pleased with my time in the first session and then had a sticky throttle cable in the second session. I had just three laps but still got 13th place. The lads did a great job to sort the problem and get me out in time."
Leslie posted a 1.34.9 to qualify 11th for the Sprint Race 1, with Bennett in 12th place. For Race 2, the Feature Race, Leslie cut 0.1 seconds off his time to secure 10th place at 1.34.806.
Ian Doble, Operations Director, Team PSP said: "This was a very good session for the team where we met our objectives to qualify securely. All our team members have done a brilliant job in their first qualifying session. When the pressure was on, they worked together well and got the result we wanted. There are a couple of minor problems to sort out but nothing to lose sleep over."
