Ford Team Mondeo heads to Brands Hatch for rounds 21 and 22 of the Auto Trader British Touring Car Championship brimming with confidence after Alain Menu's emphatic pole-to-flag victory at Knockhill, to take his and the team's first win of the season.

Menu, who crowned the day with his thirtieth BTCC win, said: "I always thought the Mondeo could win races this season, and now we have proved this to be the case. We have been on the pace since the first race, but have been unlucky with race incidents and mechanical problems."

Teammate Anthony Reid, also buoyed by a strong performance at Knockhill, added: "We hope to be right up there with the front-runners again at Brands Hatch. Knockhill was the tonic the team needed, and we fully expect to carry on from where we left off at Knockhill."

Reid scored Ford Team Mondeo's second podium finish of the 1999 season at the championship's last visit to Brands Hatch on May 16, after he and Menu dominated qualifying with a front row lock-out for the Sprint Race.

Team Manager Dave Benbow said of the team's prospects: "The whole weekend at Knockhill was a real morale boost for everybody, and just reward for all the hard work put in since October. We performed very well at Brands Hatch last time and will be looking to equal or improve that performance next weekend."

The race event begins on Saturday, August 28, with official testing at the circuit, before the drivers battle it out for the all-important front row spots on Sunday. The two races take place on Bank Holiday Monday.
