Team PSP gets wired for Brands.
Team PSP's drivers David Leslie and Phil Bennett are gearing up for more fast and furious action in the penultimate rounds of the Green Flag 2002 MSA British Touring Car Championship next Bank Holiday weekend (25/26 August).
The short and tight Indy Circuit at the famous Kent track, scene of many titanic struggles in motorsport from Formula One downwards, will see the PETRONAS-backed Proton Impians once again battle for points against the increasingly competitive works and independent teams in this rejuvenated series. With four podiums already secured and comfortably exceeding the team's pre-season ambitions, Leslie and Bennett are all set to add to the team's points tally.
David Leslie said:"The Indy circuit with its exciting mix of fast and slow corners and changes in gradient really rewards accurate driving. We're confident of developing a good race set-up and mixing it in the leading pack."
Phil Bennett said:"The Indy circuit is probably one of the best venues for race fans-- the track is set in a natural amphitheatre, so spectators can catch all the action around the circuit. Paddock Hill is my favourite corner with a blind apex and off camber-- it really sorts the men from the boys! I'm determined to get some good finishes this weekend and reward the lads at Team PSP for all their hard work since Knockhill in rebuilding my car after I was unceremoniously and forcefully punted off the track."
David Wong, Team Principal, Team Petronas Syntium Proton commented:"Brands was the debut event for our team so we already have a special feeling for the track. We'll be looking for more strong points finishes this weekend as our first year in BTCC draws to a close."
Green Flag BTCC qualifying takes place at 15.25 on Sunday 25th August, with the Sprint Race scheduled for 12.45 on Bank Holiday Monday 26th and the Feature Race due to kick off at 16.20 (full weekend timetable attached).
