NEWS FROM THE AUTO TRADER RAC TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP, 9/4/97 Auto Trader extends BTCC sponsorship TOCA Limited, organiser of the RAC British Touring Car Championship, is delighted to announce that Auto Trader has renewed its sponsorship of Britain's top motor sport series until the millennium. After five successful years, which has seen the Auto Trader Championship establish itself not only as one of this country's premier sporting attractions with extensive television coverage on BBC Grandstand but also as the world's most prestigious touring car title, a new three-year agreement has been signed by both parties. Auto Trader's on-going association is confirmed for 1998 and '99 with an option for 2000. Alan Gow, chief executive of TOCA Limited, is delighted by Auto Trader's continuing commitment: ''I'm very proud of our relationship with Auto Trader. Their extension of the sponsorship underlines the great value that our championship provides, particularly with the enormous increase in media exposure mainly resulting through our extended BBCTV contract. ''Auto Trader is a delight to work with, is highly enthusiastic, professional and is a great example of how companies should go about the business of utilising motor sport sponsorship and marketing. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to continue our close relationship.'' Auto Trader's Group Marketing and Promotions Director, Eve Tate, says: ''Our sponsorship over the past five years has established Auto Trader as the national brand leader in buying and selling cars. The growing number of fans match Auto Trader's audience perfectly and we look forward to extending our involvement with all the teams and personalities which make the Auto Trader Championship such an enjoyable and exciting sporting spectacle.'' The opening two rounds of this year's BTCC were staged in front of a record 35,000 crowd at Donington Park on Easter Monday. The 24- round series resumes at Silverstone on April 20.
