TOUGH END FOR PINKNEY AT BRANDS HATCH

The Pinkney Motorsport team endured a difficult end to the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch after being forced to sit out the final three races of the year.

Harpenden-racer David Pinkney and his team had gone into the season finale looking to try and replicate the strong performance shown during the first visit to Brands Hatch earlier in the campaign.

However, things went wrong for the team in the opening free practice session of the weekend, when a mechanical issue saw David slow to a halt as he exited Druids.

When the Vauxhall Vectra was brought back to the garage following the session, it soon became clear that the issue was terminal and David was forced to sit out the remainder of the weekend as a result.

"Clearly that wasn't the way we hoped the season would end, but we had a mechanical problem which we couldn't resolve at the circuit," team manager Andrew Dean said. "It's difficult to have to watch on from the sidelines, but these things happen in motorsport.

"We want to thank Ross, Chris and all the boys for the work they have done during the season, and also thank our sponsors and fans for the support we have had throughout the year.

"Now we will evaluate the best way forwards for both David and the Pinkney Motorsport team during the winter before we make an announcement on our plans for 2011, but there are some very interesting options which we need to explore."
