The AmDTuning.com team will aim to build on the impressive results it secured at Rockingham when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Silverstone this weekend for the penultimate meeting of the season.
The Rockingham weekend was Ollie’s best since joining the BTCC grid towards the end of the 2011 season, with his results on track matching his best result to date.
Having shown the potential of the Golf after a series of changes were introduced prior the Rockingham meeting, Ollie will now hope to add to the points scored a fortnight ago when the BTCC arrives at Silverstone for three races on the short, high-speed National layout.
“Rockingham was a big boost to the confidence and the whole team came away from the weekend with a lot more enthusiasm about what is possible in the remaining two rounds,” he said. “When we tested on the media day at Silverstone at the start of the year, we put in a good display and the aim is to improve on that this weekend. We’ve improved the car since then, but so have out rivals, so we need to see where we are when we get on track.
“We are realistic about what we can achieve, but we are now in a position where we can get the maximum out of the package we have, and that isn’t something we were able to do earlier in the year for one reason and another. The aim is to finish inside the top 15 in all three races and pick up some good points, and it’ll be interesting to see how we get on.”
With confidence on a high after Rockingham, team boss Shaun Hollamby said he was optimistic about what the team can achieve at the Home of British Motorsport.
“Rockingham was a really good weekend for us,” he said. “The new team members we welcomed on board fitted in well and Ollie did a fantastic job on track in difficult conditions to give us our best weekend of the season. What we’ve got to do now is try and make sure we build on that when we get to Silverstone.
“The test we did prior to Rockingham, and the Rockingham weekend itself, gave us some things to explore on the car and we’ve been working hard to make more improvements ahead of this weekend. It’s going to be interesting to see how those improvements translate to performance on track, but we’re going to Silverstone in confident mood.
“On the media day at the start of the year, Ollie lapped quicker round Silverstone than the Golf had ever gone before. Since then, we’ve improved the car and he’s had a lot more time behind the wheel so hopefully we can have a strong weekend to set us up well for the final round of the year.”
