Scuderia Playteam SaraFree heads to the tenth and final round of the 2007 GT Championship at the Belgian circuit of Zolder in determined mood. The circuit, near the town of Hasselt, hosted three previous rounds of the championship, from 1999 to 2001. Andrea Bertolini and Andrea Piccini have scored points in eight of the nine 2007 races and are amongst the six drivers to rank second in the drivers' championship - only five points behind the leader of the GT1 fight.
Giambattista Giannocaro, team owner and driver commented, "Scuderia Playteam SaraFree will be arriving in Zolder with the conviction that they have grown and progressed this year. The team is perfectly prepared to do a good job and give their best to help Bertolini/Piccini win the title. They will have the best possibly prepared Maserati MC12 at their disposal. The package is good and with adapted tyre wear for this busy weekend the engineers can build a good strategy with all the best possible cards in their hands. With a bit of luck we can have a really good race. I have personally never driven on this track, but I've had to learn new circuits all year apart from Monza and Adria and it hasn't been a problem. I really hope that the race in Zolder will be the highlight of our season."
Andrea Bertolini: "I know the Zolder track where I drove in 2001. The Maserati MC12 should be well suited to the track. The car set-up is a compromise towards the soft set-up trend and in bad weather conditions, the grip should respond well. In a way, I even wish we have a wet race. We have been consistent all season and had regular results. Good work always pays off and it should go well."
Andrea Piccini: "I remember Zolder as one of the most exciting and fun races in my career in 96 and 98 with the F.Opel Lotus and I doubt that the track has changed a lot since then. It is an old style track with a first part quite fast. Then a lot of esses that slow down the car with lots of changes of directions. This should suit our Maserati MC12. But the thing to watch out for is usually the weather and it will probably be cool and humid but it should work well with our package and tyres. I feel that with my team mate Andrea Bertolini we are ready to take the fight to the others. Whatever happens I am very optimistic and determined to succeed. Nothing will stop us."
Alessandro Pier Guidi completes: "Zolder is a new track for me. I realize how important the race will be because the championship will be decided here. I will do my best to do an excellent team job to help Bertolini and Piccini. We need the title for the team."
