ZOLDER: RUBERTI ON THE PODIUM IN THE FINAL ROUND OF THE FIA GT 2009
The FIA GT 2009 is going to be archived with the podium obtained by Paolo Ruberti at Zolder, thanks to the second place in GT2 class.
After the great competitiveness in free practice on wet tarmac and the fourth absolute place, the Veronese driver struggled a bit more on the dry in qualifying whereby he finished the session eighth of his class.
In the race, Ruberti has been protagonist of the first and third stint, keeping a lap pace that was constantly competitive. A small inconvenience in a pit-stop conceded a minimum advantage to opponents but did not spoil the chances of obtaining the second final place that adds up to the three podiums obtained this year (24 Hours of Le Mans, Budapest and Algarve).
"This has been a peculiar season: in the first half we struggled more than what we would have expected, then we managed to improve the situation and in the second part of the championship we have been three times on the podium out of four races. What a shame being out of the title fight well in advance, but in the last few months we obtained several satisfactions that added up to the good result at Le Mans that completes a 2009 that I judge positive anyway".
