Blancpain Sprint Series joint points leader Laurens Vanthoor will miss the series finale at Zandvoort, having been diagnosed with fractures of his leg and hip after a scary shunt in the Qualifying Race at Misano.
Vanthoor, who was the 2013 FIA GT champion, has taken five wins in Blancpain Sprint Series this season alongside Robin Frijns.
However, he and Frijns were ruled out of points-scoring contention at Misano when Vanthoor made contact with Dutchman Jules Szymkowiak and went into the barriers at high speed.
He was quickly extricated from the car, but couldn't walk and had to be helped off track.
Vanthoor and Frijns head both the Blancpain Sprint Series and the Blancpain GT standings with one round to go.
However, with Frijns now expected to get a different teammate for Zandvoort and the pairing of Maxi Buhk / Vincent Abril just eight points adrift, Vanthoor now appears extremely unlikely to get the drivers' title in either category.
