Sumo Power GT confirmed as sole British entrant for 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship

Following recent confirmation from the FIA of the participating entrants in the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship, it has been revealed that East Sussex-based Sumo Power GT are to be the only British team contesting the inaugural season of this high-profile international series.

In association with NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International Co. Ltd.) Sumo Power GT will run its two Nissan GT-Rs in a field of 24 cars. The line-up comprises 12 teams from five different countries, with six manufacturers represented.

“Seeing formal confirmation of our entry in this year’s FIA GT1 World Championship has given our team a real boost”, said team principal James Rumsey. “I have to admit, to find that we are the only team representing Britain makes our presence in this global series even more special.”

The team is currently preparing its two Nissan GT-Rs in preparation for the first test, which is scheduled to take place mid-February. The team has also confirmed that the driver line-up for one of its cars will be announced later this week.
