The Ford GT of Marc VDS Racing Team finished the Qualification Race of the 5th round of the FIA GT1 World Championship in Spa in tenth (Leinders-Martin) and fifteenth (Palttala-Kuppens).

The Ford GT #40 of Bas Leinders and Maxime Martin, that started the race in sixth, looked set for a top-5 finish, but a couple of laps before the end ignition problems occurred. "In the final laps the car lost a lot of power", Maxime Martin states. "In the technical part of the track it did not penalise me much, but on the straights I lost a lot of time." Martin fell back to tenth, the starting position for the Championship Race this Saturday at 12.05 pm.

The other car of the team, who started at the back of the field, managed to climb to fifteenth. "It is very hard to overtake in this championship", says Renaud Kuppens, who shares the Ford GT #41 with Markus Palttala. "But on the other hand it is nice to see that the collaboration with our own engineer is going better all the time. Let's hope we can get a good result in the Championship Race."
