Convincing Win for Porsche again

Stuck/Boutsen Win Ahead of Bellm/Weaver (BMW-McLaren)

Spa-Francorchamps. With three wins from three outings the new Porsche 911 GT1 qualities shone through at the international Four Hours Race at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. In front of his home crowd, Belgian Porsche pilot Thierry Boutsen, with Porsche works driver Hans-Joachim Stuck (A), immediately took the lead fom pole position opening their advantage throughout the race to finish one lap ahead of the next competitor.

The new Porsche 911 GT1 has already proven its top potential with a win at the Le Mans 24 Hours classic, and two weeks ago at Brands Hatch (GB). On the daunting Ardennes course, the Porsche has once again shown that it currently sets the standard in international Endurance racing. BMW-McLaren, Ferrari, Chrysler and Lotus had no answer to the 600 hp racing car from the Porsche's Research and Development Centre in Weissach. Boutsen and Stuck led by more than three seconds in qualifying, set the fastest racing lap in 2:16.97 min, and won by a huge margin.

Hans-Joachim Stuck commented after the race: "We had absolutely no problems throughout the entire weekend. The key to our success was perfect pitstops, our fuel-saving driving style, and minimum tyre wear."
