SILVERSTONE: MATTEO BOBBI SCORES A FOURTH PLACE IMPORTANT FOR THE CLASSIFICATION

After the spectacular recovery done two weeks ago at Abu Dhabi in the season opener, Matteo Bobbi has been author of another good performance at Silverstone in the second round of the FIA GT1 2010 World Championship.

The Milanese champion, at the wheel of the MC12 Maserati of the Triple H Team Hegersport, set the fastest chrono in Friday's pre-qualifying; more complicated were qualifying on Saturday, which were ended together with the crew-mate Bert Longin in twelfth position with the time (2'01.280).

The Qualifying Race was concluded in sixteenth place and seemed to open very few hopes for the Championship Race which proposed a plot similar to that shown in Arabian Emirates with a great recovery that took Matteo Bobbi up to the fifth place under the chequered flag, promoted afterwards to the fourth due to marshals decision to disqualify the number 7 Aston Martin.

Matteo Bobbi:
"The car has been fast throughout: we struggled a bit more than expected in qualifying and this had a few consequences in race one. This fourth place is very important for the classification because to aim at the title it is crucial to always score points.

"The only negative side of the weekend were the conditions of run off areas, still unfinished after the renovation works at the race track, and the circuit conditions in general which was not cleaned enough in between two races. This was a dangerous situation and certainly not matching up an event of the FIA World Championship".

The next round of the FIA GT1 Championship is scheduled for next 23 May at Brno, Czech Republic.
