Difficult Season debut for Kenneth Heyer.
Similiar to the tough Ferrari F1 start this Season, BMS Scuderia Italia had a difficult debut in Silverstone for the first event of the 2009 FIA GT Championship.
The Team based in Brescia, Italy, had to overcome the changes from Pirelli to Michelin for the 2009 Season, which did not go as easy as anticipated, with the result that both cars with Kenneth Heyer (D) and Diego Romanini (I) ,Matteo Maluchelli (I) and Paolo Ruberti (I) were not able to have the qualifying performance as expected. The next step was the race itself where points were expected after the two hour event. Kenneth took the Ferrari to the 9th position , handing over to his co driver Diego Romanini (I), his team mates at that stage being in 7th position. For his second stint, Kenneth took over again in 11th spot, where they finished the race in a disapointing 10th position, while the other BMS car finished in a solid 4th spot.
A disapointed Kenneth Heyer: "We had set up issues all weekend, preventing us to finish further up front. We did‘nt manage to reach the points this weekend, even after a constant drive, not making mistakes. Unfortunanely, points were not possible as expected"!
With good BMS strategy and a bit of luck with two cars having problems, the second BMS Ferrari with Malucelli and Ruberti finished in fourth position, a honorable position after all for BMS.
Kenneth Heyer: "Until we arrive for the next FIA GT race in two weeks at our "home circuit" in Italy (Adria) we have to increase our performance substancially."
