Ready for the big confrontation

Belgian Racing is present in the UK for the first race of the season of the FIA GT Championship. The preparations went well with two podium finishes (2nd & 3rd) in the Belgian GT Championship in Zolder.

The Gillet Vertigo .5 with a new Maserati V84.2L engine can keep up now with the pace of the best FIA GT3 cars. Because Automobiles Gillet do not produce more then 300 cars they are not eligible for the GT2 class, therefore the Belgian car will race in the G2 class against at least two super fast Moslers and 1 Saleen!

Tony Gillet : "We are very happy that we will have some proper competition this year in the G2 class. Our aim is to be the best outfit again in G2 and to get a little closer to the best GT2 cars, helped by the Pirelli development tires, but in the end we stay a GT3 car in the FIA GT Championship."

Bas Leinders : "Thanks to the team spirit, the organisation and our perfect driver pairing, we are able to get some good results at some of the circuits and in difficult circumstances as in the rain in Zolder, even against some of the best Ferrari's and Porsches."

In the qualifying the car had an electronic problem with the accelerator, Bas Leinders did not get the chance to do a time. The Gillet Vertigo will have to start at the back of the grid.
