The third round of the FIA GT Series 2013 held last weekend at Zandvoort (NED) has not been that favourable to Filip Salaquada and co-equiper Fabio Onidi (ITA) on the number 51 Ferrari 458 Italia lined up in Pro-Am by team AF.
After the positive third row in qualifying (1'38"491), the two races had quite an unexpected and unlucky end. In the first stint of the Qualifying Race, with a few laps to go to the scheduled pit-stop, Fabio Onidi has been bumped by a rival's Lamborghini and reported minor damage but his car got stuck on a kerb which prevented him to rejoin on track forcing the Italian to a sad retirement.Things did not go much better to Filip Salaquada: the Czech driver's Main Race last only twelve laps as a contact with Ricardo Zonta (BMW Z4) put an early end to his race that finished in turn one's gravel trap when he was fighting for the podium of Pro-Am.
Filip Salaquarda: "Qualifying gave us positive indications and we were strongly convinced we could aim to a good result in both races. Two contacts put us out of the games early instead and we did not have the chance to get the most out of our potential. This is racing though: these episodes are already behind us and we are looking at the next rounds full of hopes".
The FIA GT Series will resume next 18 August at the Slovakia Ring.
