After completing its own private tests, Sébastien Loeb Racing participated in its first group session during the FIA GT Series Media Day. For the occasion, one of the team’s two McLaren MP4-12C was on track, with Sébastien Loeb behind the wheel.

For the first time today, I got the impression that I was in ‘my’ car.

After Lédenon, Jerez and Magny-Cours, Sébastien Loeb Racing continued its preparations for the 2013 season at the Paul Ricard Circuit, the same track where Sébastien Loeb first drove the McLaren MP4-12C last October. Since then, the multiple World Rally champion has gotten to know the British GT car well.

"For the first time today, I got the impression that I was in ‘my’ car," he explained after covering 64 laps on Wednesday. "During the previous tests, I still had to get my bearings. Of course, I don’t know the car as well as my Citroën DS3 WRC, but it’s coming along. I’m feeling the feedback from the car more, which helped us improve the balance during our testing. During this session, we’re not able to really garner any real information regarding the pure performance of the machine. However, concerning the work performed, it’s positive. We corrected a few minor issues and progressed on the setup. That was our priority."

While Sébastien Loeb continues to familiarise himself with the McLaren MP4-12C, he is also fine-tuning his relationship with the technical team. "With the engineers, we are getting to know each other better and better » he confirms. "From session to session, we are heading in the right direction. We have a highly technical car and everyone has to get to know it : the drivers and also the engineers and mechanics. There’s a definite potential and we are progressing well together. So, all in all, it was a positive day."

Sébastien Loeb Racing will continue its pre-season testing on Thursday, again at the Paul Ricard Circuit.
