Test Accident Disrupts Time Schedule

The Porsche works team with its 911 GT1 will not be at the start when the third round of the international FIA-GT Championship is run on Helsinki's city circuit this coming weekend.

"A test accident during preparations for the Le Mans 24 hour race has set us back so far in our time planning that we are definetly not able to compete in Helsinki," explained Herbert Ampferer, head of motorsport at Porsche.

Porsche wroks driver Yannick Dalmas from France left the track with his 911 GT1 during a test drive on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (B) on Saturday. The car was destroyed, but luckily the 35-year-old Frenchman sustained only minor injuries breaking two fingers.

The doctors are cautiously optimistic that Yannick Dalmas' start at Le Mans in June will not be affected.
