Sports car pilot Stefan Mucke drove fastest lap but ends race without points at the GT1 World at Le Castellet
Berlin/Le Castellet (rol/ot) A drive system damage, a tyre damage, the fastest laps - but all without the hoped points. That has been the fourth season event of the FIA GT1 World Championship this weekend (3rd/4th of July) at the Paul Ricard race track at Le castellet (France) for German sports car pilot Stefan Mucke. ^AI had good speed, what the lap times proofed. And without any of those problems it could have been possible to reach the points ranking. But in the end that doesn't count much", told the 28 year old Aston Martin works driver after the races 7 and 8, that is sharing the cockpit of his DBR9 for the Team Young Driver AMR (Paderborn/Copenhagen) with his Dane team colleague Christoffer Nygaard.
Although everything started very well for the Berlin. Starting from position 8 on Saturday at the Qualifying Race he could make his way up to position 5. ^AThe car felt very good despite the additional weight. But then the axle driving shaft broke down and I had to stable the car at the pit even before driver's change", he told. So Mucke/Nygaard had to start from the end of the peloton on Sunday at the Championship Race. After the Dane made his way up to position 18 already he had to drive to the pit to get a damaged tyre changed before the scheduled driver's change.
So Stefan Mucke started in this second part of the race with 40 seconds difference to the whole peloton and had the car from first position almost right behind him with just 5 seconds ahead. ^AAt the end I could catch up to the peloton, drove the fastest lap times and I have even been faster than the cars at front. But then it only has been position 20", the Berlin told aggravated. The fifth season event of the GT1 World Championship is scheduled for 30th of July to 1st of August at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). ^AI hope to catch some points for our team there", tells Stefan Mucke.
