20 August 2006 - Hard race for Matteo Bobbi at the French circuit of Paul Ricard in the fifth round of the GT2 series FIA GT championship. After the good result in the qualifying session yielding the third place on the starting grid and an encouraging second place in the warm up, the race has been much more difficult than expected. The 42.5 Kg of ballast did not allow the Milanese champion to take his number 58 Ferrari beyond the 4th GT2 class ending position. Nevertheless, with this result Matteo Bobbi and his team-mate Jaime Melo gain one point on their direct opponents for the 2006 title.

Matteo Bobbi "The race has been harder than expected, but we ended up with a good fourth place. I am happy that this allowed us to gain one point on our direct opponents for the championship. To reach the middle-point of the season at the lead of the championship gives our team the right confidence and motivation to face the remaining of the season in this very intriguing GT2 championship".
