TWO FORD GT1 CARS AT THE RING THIS WEEKEND

Almost a month after the Total 24 Hours of Spa the Marc VDS Racing Team gets into gear once again, with the Ford GT1 cars of Leinders-Martin and Palttala-Kuppens participating in the sixth round of the FIA GT1 World Championship this weekend at the Nurburgring.

No Belgian Grand Prix for Bas Leinders and the other members of the Marc VDS Racing Team in the FIA GT1 World Championship, even though they are not to far off the track of Spa-Francorchamps. Some 100 kilometres to be exact, for it is the Nurburgring that will be the setting of the sixth round of the GT1 championship.

"It's a track that does not suit the Ford GT that well. Our car has always been strong in the technical parts, but not so good in acceleration," Bas Leinders states. "That could cost us some tenths in the climb after the hairpin. But that's the way it is, we will have to deal with it. Our goal is to repeat our best performance (4th in Le Castellet), or at least to come close to a podium finish during the last couple of races of the year."

After the gruelling weekend in Spa at the end of July the Marc VDS Racing Team made a great effort to put both Ford GT back into shape and continue their development. But the members of the team started the second half of the season in a pleasant way as well, with a team-building event not far from Durbuy. Kayaking on the Ourthe, paintball, it made the Marc VDS Racing Team an even more well knit entity. "It's the kind of event I adore and now we are completely ready for the rest of the season," Marc van der Straten, the enthusiastic team owner concludes.
