The first FIA GT1 race weekend of the season went well for Nicky Pastorelli, his co-driver Thomas Jäger as well as for their teammates Marc Basseng en Markus Winkelhock.

On Saturday Nicky and Thomas qualified 5th in their number #37 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, their teammates 6th in the #38 Mercedes-Benz.

On Sunday the Qualifying race was declared a wet race and because the team had never tested the car in the wet before, they had to learn the hard way. Nicky had to be satisfied with a 7th place.

Today, Monday, was a sunny day. Nicky started the race and after a good start he slowly moved up in the field. After two cars (#3 and #9) in the front of both All-Inkl.com cars got a drive through penalty for a false start, Nicky moved to 4th place, right behind his teammate. After the pitstop co-driver Thomas Jäger kept their Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in 4th position and their teammates kept third place. Which is where they finished.

Nicky Pastorelli: “I am very happy with the results this weekend. We were the only cars in the field able to could keep up with the Audi laptimes, so this was the maximum we could achieve. The team did a great job with the car, they realy developed it over the weekend as well as getting used to the new Pirelli tyres. But it was not realy a suitable circuit for the car.”

Next race: Zolder, Belgium, 21 and 22 April 2012
