MONZA'S CHARM IN THE FIRST HOME RACE FOR PAOLO RUBERTI

15/05/2008 - Monza is a track that gave a lot of satisfactions to Paolo Ruberti in the past. Last year, in FIA GT, the driver from Verona set the GT2 class pole position, followed by the third place of the podium. Podium achieved in 2006 as well, this time in the International GT Open, while in 2004, at his first exit with the Saleen S7-R GT1, Ruberti was a ruler in qualifying, up to a few minutes to the end of the session.

The most serious episode in the career of Ruberti is connected to Monza too. Back to 1997, in Formula 3, he was involved in a terrifying accident during the first lap at the Roggia chicane. The driver got out unharmed but the single seater was broken in two pieces.

Next weekend's race will have Ruberti as one of the most awaited protagonists, after the third place obtained at Silverstone in the opening round of the FIA GT championship. Weather forecasts announce rain for Saturday and Sunday, a racing condition certainly not despised by the Italian driver.

Paolo Ruberti:
"Monza has always been lucky for me in endurance races. Fast tracks bring out me, therefore I am confidently living the eve of the weekend. This year I have a very competitive package that, especially on some circuits, should allow us to aim at the victory. I am not worried about the rain: on heavy rain conditions we would certainly be very competitive, while it is more difficult to forecast under intermediate conditions."
