The last round of the FIA GT Championship this weekend in Monza was a success for Gabriele Lancieri who made a good impression on the spectators and on the workforce by climbing his way up from the ninth to the seventh place during his hour of the race. The race car driver from Imola participated in this round on the board the car of the English team Lister Cars. He shared his seat with Andrea Piccini and David Sterckx.
Lancieri, who drove the Lister Storm successfully at the 24 hours of Spa event without doing a test session before, performed well and was able to set excellent times during his turn.
"This season was for me was rather uneasy but it ended on a positive note. Although my seventh place win may not be the top, I am however very satisfied with my performance and I satisfied my team mates and the team which is all the more important.
"We were in ninth place, at the end of the second hour when Sterckx handed the car over to me. The first few laps were very demanding. The tyres hadn't had time to warm up and since I don't have that much experience with this type of car ,I preferred not to take any risks and waited till the tyres were at the right temperature. After a few laps, I caught up to the times set by the first few and I inherited two positions. A good outcome that was made possible thanks to my sponsors who have supported me for all of these years. We now have to dedicate our time to next year's season.
"I know that my future lies in the covered wheel categories.Together with my manager Giovanni Minardi, we will evaluate all of our options so I can be a protagonist next year."
