Marino Franchitti is to participate in the first round of the FIA GT Championship with the German based team, B-racing, when the FIA GT season kicks off at the UK's Northants based Silverstone Circuit next week, 7th May.
Marino will be competing in the GT1 category driving B-racing's Lamborghini Murcielago, the same car he tested for the team last month in Paul Ricard at the official FIA GT test.
"I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Norbert (Norbert Walchhofer, Driver and Team Principal), his team and the car in France last month and I know they have been working very hard to maximise the car's performance and competitiveness. It's going to be a tough Championship; there is some very fierce competition, so it would be nice to help the team get off to a good start in Silverstone" said Marino.
Marino, who will take Christophe Bouchut's seat at this first round of the FIA GT Championship, is thoroughly looking forward to the challenge. "It's so good to be racing back in Europe, and especially back in the UK, and I'm grateful to Norbert for making that possible. And needless to say the opportunity to finalise my negotiations with him to compete with B-racing in the remainder of the LMS season is really great".
It should also be a weekend of enjoyment in the vicinity of the B-racing pit in Silverstone too where amongst the team's guests will be none other than friend of the team and avid race fan, the 14 year old child star, Skandar Keynes, who took a leading role in the film "The Chronicles of Narnia" and who also played the young Enzo Ferrari in the film of the same name.
