Coverage of the prestigious FIA GT Championship will return to Motors TV for the second half of the 2009 season.

The 'High Speed Television' channel already boasts an impressive portfolio of sportscar and GT racing coverage, including the American Le Mans Series and International GT Open as well as the British, French and Belgian GT Championships and now sees the world's top GT racing series return to its stable of featured championships.

Coverage will begin on Friday 31 July with highlights of the championship's blue riband event, the Spa 24 Hours. The following race in Budapest will then be shown Delayed-as-Live and the three remaining rounds at the Algarve Circuit, Paul Ricard and Zolder screened LIVE.

Motors TV's Head of Programming Frederic Viger said: "We are thrilled that coverage of the FIA GT Championship has returned to Motors TV as we strive to bring the best of international motorsport to our viewers.

"The series is hugely popular and the championship battle between prestigious marques such as Corvette, Maserati, Saleen, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche is intriguingly poised in both the GT1 and GT2 categories.

"The addition of the new-spec GT1 cars from Ford and Nissan has added another interesting aspect in 2009 as the championship looks to the future and the GT1 World Championship in 2010."

2009 is a historic year for the series as it will be the last contested by the current specification GT1 cars such as the Maserati MC12, Saleen S7R and Corvette C6.R. The series is made up of seven, two-hour races at some of Europe's finest circuits and the Spa 24 Hours which takes place next weekend.
