Ellis Collects FIA GT3 European Ford Manufacturer Cup
Barely a week after receiving the BRDC Innes Ireland Trophy in London, Croydon's Bradley Ellis travelled to Monaco to attend the FIA GT3 European Championship prize-giving where he was awarded the Ford Manufacturer Cup as the highest placed Ford driver throughout the season.
The 21 year-old finished fourth overall in his first full FIA GT3 European season and entered the final Dubai rounds with a shot at the championship title, but with the final race of the year cancelled Ellis was denied the chance to fight until the chequered flag. With four podiums and a raft of point scoring finishes to his credit, including an impressive double win at Monza and an overall pole position in Dubai, Ellis has undoubtedly impressed in the Matech Ford GT this year.
Following the star-studded ceremony at the Hotel de Paris, Ellis commented: "It's great to receive the Ford Manufacturer Cup in such a historical motorsport setting as Monaco and at such an awesome venue. It would have been nice to be here to collect the championship-winning trophy, but it's still an honour to receive the Ford Manufacturer Cup as there were some really strong, and experienced, drivers racing for Ford this year. It's been a fiercely competitive season, so it's nice to have earned this recognition."
Ellis' efforts also contributed to helping the Swiss Matech GT Racing team to capture the FIA GT3 European Championship Team Trophy, beating Hexis Racing by 30 points.
