Wet Friday at Brno
Young Driver AMR experienced a wet start today, Friday, in the Czech round of the GT1 World Championship at Brno. The free practise started in the morning on a damp track, which dried up until the end of the 80-minute session. Heavy rain showers dominated the pre-qualifying session in the afternoon, and the two Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin DBR9s ranked in the middle of the field in both session. Darren Turner/Tomas Enge (GB/CZ) were 10th fastest in both session, while Stefan Mucke/Christoffer Nygaard (D/DK) claimed the 12th and 14th quickest times.
Tomas Enge (#7 Aston Martin DBR9): "In the mixed condition of the first session it was very difficult, but of course it was difficult for everyone. We still have some things to improve for Saturday. In the rain our car was good, I'm really satisfied. After Silverstone we got 30kg more ballast weight from the organisers in our car, with the up and downhill sections on this track we really feel this extra ballast in the car."
Stefan Mucke (#8 Aston Martin DBR9): "The car was quite good in the rain, in the dry I drove only three laps. If it's dry in the qualifying tomorrow, it will be very interesting with my limited experience in dry conditions today. The qualifying will not be easy, but I hope we can make it into the Top 10, as the car is very quick here over one lap.
Christoffer Nygaard (#8 Aston Martin DBR9): "I was a little bit cautious in the first session after my accident two weeks ago at Spa. In the wet conditions it was not easy and it was difficult to judge the lap times in the wet. But there is some room for improvements. I drove a lot today, especially in the rain which was very good for me as I could collect valuable experience on this track where I have not raced before."
