Marc VDS Racing Team goes to Brno after the win in Spa
After the recent win in the Spa 1000 kms., the Marc VDS Racing Team goes with high ambitions to Brno for the next round of the FIA GT1 championship.
We're in the middle of the season and the Marc VDS Racing Team is at full speed! Right after the return from Spa, where the team took an emphatic win in the GT1-category of the Spa 1000 kms., the team from Charleroi in Belgium converted its two Ford GT's back to sprint-mode, for the next round of the FIA GT1 World Championship, next weekend in Brno. Not only did the team under supervision of Jean-Michel Delporte work a lot on the cars, it also trained extensively on performing faultless pitstops. Useful for the World Championship races of course, but also for the Le Mans 24 Hours, on June 12-13.
Maxime Martin (Ford GT nr. 40):
"I'm looking very much forward to the races in Brno, since it's the track where I made my GT-debut, at the wheel of an Ascari. It's a fun track, going up and down at high speeds. The technical parts should suit the chassis of our Ford very well, so I hope that will compensate our lack of speed during the long accelerations. During the first two races of the season we were unable to score big points, but it was clear that Ford can be a frontrunner. In Silverstone our laptimes were among the three-four best and in the wet we were quickest of all. I only hope that the balance of power between the different cars is now fully up to scratch, because until now only Ford and Corvette played the game fair and square. But on the other hand is this period of adaptation quite normal, since this is a brand new championship after all. Considering the presence of numerous high level teams and drivers it certainly deserves the title World Championship."
Markus Palttala (Ford GT nr. 41):
"Like most GT-drivers I like the track of Brno, because it's a track that demands a flowing style of driving, not unlike my own. It even makes me think of Spa sometimes, without Blanchimont and Eau Rouge of course! I hope that on this rather technical track we can fully exploit the qualities of the Ford-chassis. In this stage of the season and considering the fact that we only get to know the team and the car, I think our main aim should be finishing races and scoring points on a regular basis. Of course, after our win in Spa, the team is a bit euphoric. Winning in front of our home crowd and the numerous fans of the Marc VDS Racing Team was fantastic, I must admit. That is very encouraging for the future, even though the Le Mans 24 Hours will be a whole different kettle of fish..."
