AN INCONVENIENCE VANISHES RUBERTI-MEDIANI'S PODIUM AT BRNO
Podium with disqualification for Ruberti-Mediani at Brno. The F430 number 52 Ferrari's crew concluded third under the chequered flag thanks to a brilliant performance of the two drivers and a winning race strategy.
After the race, during technical verifications, a problem emerged in the height of the zone near the front right tyre. Most probably due to a contact with a curb, the bottom of the car was subjected to a deformation not influent for its performances but slightly decreasing the height of the car from the ground in that zone. Stewards, despite understanding the good faith of the Edil Cris Racing Team, disqualified by rule the car.
Seventh place for Linossi-Mediani instead, after the getaway from the pit lane due to a problem to the gearbox that prevented the car to take part to yesterday's qualifying.
The next round of the FIA GT is due next weekend at Nogaro.
Giancristiano Cavalleri (Team Principal): "After a lot of work we succeeded in getting back to the podium, a very important result for us. Rules are rules and their rigorous application is fair enough, nevertheless I regret losing a good result for an inconvenience that did not affect the performances of the car."
Paolo Ruberti: "I performed a good race: I have been fast in both stints and Mediani and I achieved a deserved podium. Unfortunately, the disqualification, although fair from regulations point of view, deprived ourselves of this result. I therefore come back home with a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth."
Maurizio Mediani: "I had some problems with my first set of tyres, but we knew it could have happened. The third place was our maximum result, it is a pity that an unusual and uninfluent problem caused our disqualification."
Matteo Cressoni: "I found a good feeling with Linossi since the beginning, what a pity for the problems we experienced this weekend. Our race pace was not that bad, but the start from the bottom made us lose a lot of precious time."
Luciano Linossi: "It has been a troubled weekend, whereby we had to skip the second free practice and qualifying as well. When you get away from the pit lane it is hard to recover, therefore I reckon that the seventh place and two world points at my debut race in FIA GT is a positive result at the end of the day".
