Bentley Team HTP claimed the first victory for Bentley in the Blancpain Sprint Series at the fourth round of the championship at Moscow Raceway. Maximilian Buhk/Vincent Abril celebrated their maiden victory in the Bentley Continental GT3, while Jules Szymkowiak/Max van Splunteren claimed the win in the Silver Cup reserved for young drivers in a second Bentley. At the same time, Bentley Team HTP were successful at the ADAC GT Masters at Lausitzring. In a heated battle in temperatures up to 38 degrees, both Bentley Continental GT3 claimed points in the two races.

Bentley wins big in Russia

The HTP youngsters Buhk and Abril showed a great performance in the first race of the Sprint Series on Russian soil. A third place finish in the qualifying race laid the perfect foundation for the feature race. Starting from third, Abril quickly took the lead after a great start and immediately created a gap. Buhk took over the Bentley Continental GT3 from the Monegasque driver halfway through the race and eventually secured the victory in the 60-minute race. After 36 laps, Buhk took the chequered flag with a margin of more then seven seconds. Due to their great performance in Russia, Buhk/Abril are now second in the drivers championship with three races to go.

Jules Szymkowiak and Max van Splunteren enhanced HTP´s success in Russia with a Silver Cup class victory in a flawless first common race of the two Dutchman. They finished tenth overall in van Splunteren´s maiden weekend with Bentley Team HTP.

Bentley in heated battle at Lausitzring

At the Lausitzring round of the ADAC GT Masters, the two Bentley Continental GT3 of Luca Stolz/Jeroen Bleekemolen and Clemens Schmid/Fabian Hamprecht not only fought against their competitors, but also against the conditions in temperatures up to 38 degrees. After two flawless races, Stolz/Bleekemolen finished sixth and seventh, while Schmid/Hamprecht scored points in both races for the time this season and finished seventh and ninth.

"A great weekend for Bentley and Bentley Team HTP“, said Bentley Team HTP team principal Norbert Brückner. "We are proud to give Bentley it’s first victory in the Sprint Series and can be equally proud of the strong performance of the entire team and drivers in Blancpain Sprint Series and ADAC GT Masters. In the Sprint Series we clinched the first victory for Bentley and in ADAC GT Masters we reached our goal to take a good amount of points with both cars in both races.“

Driver quotes

Vincent Abril: “This weekend we raced hard and capitalised on the great performance of the Bentley. I did not have to look in the rear-view mirror and simply raced. This is my first win in Blancpain Series Sprint and hopefully not my last. I am so happy about our success. Big thanks to the whole team, especially to my teammate Maximilian Buhk who has helped me improve. From him I can still learn a lot. "

Maximilian Buhk: “It's a great feeling to be back on top of the podium. At the start of the season we had a new car, we learned a lot and now the successes come. We are very happy. This is a great success for the whole team.”

Max van Splunteren: "The Blancpain Sprint Series is a great championship. I must thank Bentley and HTP for this opportunity. As a young driver you can learn much from more experienced drivers. I had a good start, but was then overtaken by some Audis. Still, I was happy with my performance.”

Luca Stolz: “It was not an easy weekend. Thank to a great strategy, a trouble free race and some luck, we fought our way forward and claimed a decent result. We simply repeated this in the race two.”

Jeroen Bleekemolen: “We took the maximum out of both races but this weekend it was not possible to fight for another podium. We lacked some speed to fight at the front. We will work hard in the summer break and I hope we can race for a podium again at the next round.”

Clemens Schmid: “We nee to work on our qualifying performance, as this makes life a lot easier. We have the pace in the race, but in qualifying we are sometimes not there. We made the best out of these difficult conditions. Given our grid positions, the result was still acceptable.”

Fabian Hamprecht: “For the first time this season we claimed points in both races, which is great. We showed a good performances in both races but on the down side, have to improve in qualifying at the next races.”
