FIA GT Champion Julian Bailey, mainstay of the Lister Storm team for the past three seasons, was sensationally dropped by team owner Laurence Pearce on the eve of the FIA prizegiving last week. Bailey will be replaced by former TVR Tuscan racer Ian McKellar, who takes major sponsorship to the Lister team and plans to drive with Jamie Campbell-Walter, the other FIA title holder. "There are no hard feelings" said Bailey, who was shocked by the news. "I can't compete with someone bringing a lot of sponsorship. What I want now is to find a team that will give me the chance to beat the Lister team next year."

A bizarre twist to the tale unfolded on Monday when Pearce insisted that Bailey had misunderstood the situation. "We told him that he would not be driving with Jamie next year" he said. "If we could, we would run another car for Julian."
