Pritchard and Gwynn primed for gravel return.
20 year old British Rally Elite driver Jason Pritchard and his Welshpool based co-driver George Gwynn are eager to maintain their current form when the British Rally Championship returns to gravel this weekend, on an event that will mark the first time the pair compete together on the loose stuff.
Whilst the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship may have kicked off on gravel with the Pirelli International Rally, way back in April, Jason and George were forced to miss the season opener after Builth Wells based Jason broke his ankle. Since then the 20 year old has made a full recovery and with a win and a second place finish on the past two rallies the pair now find themselves back in the thick of the championship battle.
Jason and George, whose combined age of just 45 years makes them the youngest pairing in the 2008 championship, are contesting the C2R2cup in a North Road Garage supported Citroen and after a strong showing on the International Rally of Yorkshire in 2007 Jason will be hoping to back up last years pace with a strong result this weekend.
We have really enjoyed our champagne moments of late and although this is the first gravel event we will do in the little C2R2 this year both George and I are hoping that we can continue with our strong pace and once again be in the thick of the class battle this weekend.
The pair contested the recent Todd’s Leap Ulster Rally, across in Ireland, where they traded times with the top Irish competitors throughout the two day rally and were more than happy to return home with second place C2R2 points. The car has since then been converted into gravel by Quick Motorsport and Jason is anticipating a brief gravel shakedown ahead of the International rally of Yorkshire, which marks the fifth round of the 2008 C2R2cup.
