Watson ready for season finale

18 year old Tom Watson is eagerly looking forward to the return to gravel as the Swansea based youngster tackles the forthcoming Trackrod Challenge Rally, the final round of his debut season in the MSA British Rally Championship feeder category.

Tom, a former motocross racer who only converted to rallying at the start of 2009, has experienced the highs and lows of rallying as he has faced a steep learning curve this year. After crashing out whilst on the fringes of the top ten overall in the Isle of Man, Watson then picked up a huge bag of points on the Ulster Rally at the end of August. This sees the TRT Welding Services backed Ford Fiesta driver head to Pickering leading the junior standings and within reach of the overall class championship!

I have to say that I am looking forward to getting back out on the loose stuff! I've gradually gotten used to rallying on tarmac but, right now, I have more experience on gravel and so it'll be nice to be back on the loose!

I have no expectations heading to Yorkshire and am trying not to think about the championship. I just want to run my own rally again and we'll see where we end up at the end of Saturday, but a finish is my main target this weekend.

The 2009 Trackrod Challenge Rally takes place on Saturday 26 September and consists of 45 high speed stage miles through the famous Yorkshire forests of Langdale, Cropton and Dalby before returning to Pickering mid afternoon for the ceremonial finish.
