Beebe braced for Jim Clark
Nuneaton rallying star Matt Beebe is eagerly anticipating this weekends Jim Clark International, Round 2 of the 2006 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.
Matt, who dominated the MG Championship round on the Jim Clark National Rally in 2005, is looking to raise his game after admitting to having been 'a little surprised' by the pace of Justin Dale on the Pirelli International earlier this year.
As a result Matt and his highly experienced co-driver Gemma Price have been doing a lot of testing and developing of their notes. This was all put to good effect when Matt and Gemma staged a giant killing performance on the recent Rally of the Midlands, where they finished an incredible 4th overall. Possibly the highlight of the event, his home town rally, was setting fastest time on the first of the Sunday stages, going quicker than the event winning Group B Metro 6r4!
Before the Rally of the Midlands we did a test with Hankook and the confidence I have found with their Ventus tyres is amazing. That, coupled with more time going over our notes with Gemma means I am positive we'll be closer to Justin Dale this weekend.
Matt, who is supported by the North Warwickshire and Hinckley College Motorsport Academy, is a two time winner of the MG ZR Championship and has made the step up to the British Rally Championship in 2006 with a more powerful MG ZR 160. He was relatively pleased with his performance on the BRC opener, the Pirelli International Rally, in May but knows he needs to 'up' his pace in order to continue his impressive performance.
The 2006 Jim Clark International Rally begins from Kelso Race Course on Friday afternoon at 3:30pm and finishes on Saturday evening after 150 stage miles of treacherous tarmac rallying.
