32 year old Pwllheli based Andrew Hockridge is all set for a very busy year of rallying in 2008 as the Company director tackles his first major championship on board an exciting new GRH Foods backed Citroen C2R2.

After 2 years of contesting selected events in a Subaru Impreza Andrew, who has been active in rallying since he was 17, purchased the Citroen C2R2 earlier this year and will campaign it in the C2R2 Cup which runs within the premier division of British motor rallying, the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.

Andrew will also compete in a selection of non championship rounds as well as he gains as much experience of the new car as possible. This coming weekend the Gino's Pizza Cheese backed driver will travel north to Jedburgh in Scotland to compete in the Border Counties Rally which takes in parts of the infamous Kielder Forest complex, using roads of a similar nature to the those used in the Pirelli Rally, the opening round of the British Rally Championship which takes place in 2 weeks time. This rally will also give Andrew time to adjust to his new co-driver Crosshands based 29 year old Tony Derrick.

I am really looking forward to this year. This is the first major championship I have tackled and the C2R2 is quite a beast. Geoff Jones has been giving me advice on setup and driving tips and now I'm raring to go. Neither Tony nor I have ever competed in the BRC before so it's going to be quite an experience!

The Border Counties Rally, a qualifying round of the Pirelli Gravel Rally Championship, starts from Jedburgh in Scotland on Saturday morning at 8:30am. The cars will tackle 7 stages before returning to the ceremonial finish at 6pm.

Andrew is backed by GRH Foods, Gino's Pizza Cheese and Camsport and will be run with technical assistance from Geoff Jones Motorsport.
