SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Dave Villwock drove Bernie Little's Miss Budweiser to a fifth place finish this afternoon for the Budweiser Bill Muncey Cup at the San Diego Thunderboat Regatta benefiting Children's Hospital and Health Center. Dave started the final from outside in Lane 6 and was unable to catch the leaders, including Mike Hanson in the U-9 Sun Harbor Mortgage who took home the Budweiser Bill Muncey Cup. Earlier in the day, Dave Villwock clinched the 2002 Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Series Championship for Bernie Little and the Miss Budweiser team after finishing second in Heat 2B behind Nate Brown in the U-16 Elam Plus.
"Winning today would have been a nice finish for the season, but I can't complain, we're taking the Miss Budweiser home in one piece and with a 22nd World Championship," said Villwock." It's actually kind of nice, I've got a six pack of driver championships now."
Team owner Bernie Little added,"It's been a great season, it always is when you finish on top and that's always our goal. We run every race, every heat and every season with the intent of taking home a championship and I'm thrilled that we get to add a 22nd Championship logo to the side of trucks. Dave and the Miss Budweiser crew are first class and I'm proud of them for their great performance this year. I also think it's important to congratulate the other teams on their efforts this year, we've seen drivers, crews and boats improve, which is important for the sport."
