Hutton Rudby rider Russ Hodgson's season went from bad to worse at Knockhill yesterday when he recorded his third non finish of the season after crashing out of the Virgin Mobile Yamaha R6 Cup race after seven laps of the 1.3 mile Scottish circuit.

After recovering from a recently broken foot 'Rusty' was hoping to turn the corner at Knockhill but in keeping with his 2004 luck, the odds as well as the conditions conspired against the 23 year old Outdoor Pursuits Instructor from the start.

With sponsor Alan Haywood making the long trip north, the weather conditions ruled out much of Saturday's action including the only scheduled qualifying session for the class. As a result, and despite being fourth fastest during the dry Free Practice session, Hodgson was placed on row four of the gird courtesy of his lowly championship position meaning he had to fight his way through in the damp conditions of the race.

He was doing just that when he crashed out on lap eight at the fast Clark Curve injuring his ankle in the process once again and resulting in another meeting without any points.

The next outing for the series is at Mallory Park in two weeks time whereby Hodgson is hoping for a change of fortune.
