Construction delays continue to affect the 2001 opening of Rausch Creek Motorsports Park. "As with any project of this size, you would have to expect delays. We put together a good schedule of races and club events this year. If everything had gone perfectly during construction, then we would've been open in May. Unfortunately, that did not occur, and we have had to cancel and postpone some of the early events in the 2001 season," explained Rausch Creek's General Manager Andrew Stutzman.

"The construction crews are cutting in the box for the stone bed, which is the base for the asphalt. That should be complete within the week. From that, we will be laying the base coat of asphalt. The verges and safety zones will be completed during the asphalt cure time. The critical piece of the puzzle is the wear coat. That must be paved continuously with around the clock shifts, so there is only one cold seam on the entire track. We will not compromise the racing surface to accommodate a few early commitments on the schedule. We want to be assured that the track surface is still flawless in ten years, as well as this first season."

Rausch Creek expects to be in operation in the latter part of June, hosting the National Auto Sport Association June 29th to July 1st as our first spectator event.
